Boy in Manila dies after being allegedly punched by kagawad, another man

MANILA, Philippines — A 15-year-old boy died following a confrontation with an official of a local Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and another man in Manila on Friday, according to police.

In a report on Monday, the Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspects as Irineo Cardanio, 23, and SK Kagawad Mark Jhorell, 18.

The two reportedly confronted the male victim along F. Manalo St., Barangay 894 in Sta. Ana – Punta around 9:10 p.m.

Citing a witness’ account, MPD said the victim was with his friends when Cardanio and Jhorell approached and punched him.

The victim fell unconscious and was brought to the hospital by the suspects, where he was declared dead on arrival, police added.

The two are under police custody while the investigation is ongoing.
