Teenager busted with P2.2-M 'shabu' in Lucena City

LUCENA CITY Police arrested an 18-year-old alleged drug trafficker in possession of P2.2-million suspected shabu (crystal meth) in a buy-bust operation on Saturday night in this capital city of Quezon province.

The suspect, identified only as “Ardy,” is believed to be a member of the drug syndicate “Rocela drug group” and a “high-value” target in the government’s drug war, according to the police.

Anti-narcotics operatives of the Lucena City police nabbed Ardy after he sold P500 worth of shabu to an undercover cop in Barangay Market View at 9:50 p.m., Police Lieutenant Colonel Dennis de Guzman, Lucena City police chief, reported on Sunday.

Operatives confiscated from him 10 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 110 grams with a standard Dangerous Drugs Board value of P748,000 at P6,800 per gram.

The seized shabu is worth P2,244,000 in the street market at the prevailing price of P20,400 per gram, the report added.

The Lucena police said they were still investigating the source of the suspected shabu peddled by the suspect.

The detained suspect will face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
