Zambales, Bataan forecast to have heavy rainfall on Friday

MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rainfall is expected in Zambales and Bataan on Friday morning.

According to its 8 a.m. rainfall advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) placed the two areas under yellow rainfall warning.

Areas under a yellow rainfall warning are forecast to have between 7.5 mm and 15 mm of rain.

Flooding is also possible in low-lying areas and near river channels.

Kristine was last located some 125 kilometers west-northwest of Bacnotan, La Union, with a maximum wind speed of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of 115 kph.

It is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Friday afternoon.

A “minimal to moderate risk of storm surge” warning was up for the next 48 hours over the low-lying or coastal areas of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, and Zambales.

A gale warning was also hoisted over the seaboard of Luzon and the western seaboard of Visayas.

Meanwhile, Pagasa also said light to moderate rains are affecting these places and may persist within three hours:

  • Batangas
  • Nueva Ecija

  • Laguna
