MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday assured the public that the government is now intensifying its efforts to mitigate the devastation caused to people by the onslaught of Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami).

He added all assets were allocated to aid those devastated by the torrential rains and flooding.

“All resources of your national government are allocated to provide necessary assistance for the swift return to normal conditions and living in the affected areas,” Marcos said in Filipino.

“We are now intensifying, as well, preparations as this generational typhoon makes its way to Southern Tagalog and barrels towards Northern Luzon. Our priority there is to mitigate the damage it may cause, evacuate those living in hazardous areas, and to preposition necessary goods and personnel to ensure the continuous availability of essential supplies once the Typhoon arrives,” he added.

Furthermore, he said that government agencies are “tirelessly and urgently working” for the swift deployment of relief, recovery, and rehabilitation aid for the victims.

“We direct all agencies and offices of the government, as well as our partners in the private and non-government sector, to pitch in, strengthen and reinforce the bulwark which we have built against this raging tempest,” he said.

Marcos then reassured that Filipinos will overcome Kristine, rebuild what has been damaged, and rise again as a stronger and more resilient nation.
