MANILA, Philippines—If you’re a Chief Justice, there’s a big difference between having no need for housemaids and having no housemaids because nobody can endure working for you.
This was one of the observations made by former Senator Rene Saguisag, a veteran lawyer, regarding the three-hour testimony of Chief Justice Renato Corona at the Senate and the events that followed.
Saguisag, in an interview Thursday morning with John Susi of Radyo Inquirer, also sided with Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile regarding the disrespectful behaviour of the Chief Justice when he abruptly left the witness stand without being officially discharged.
“It’s like saying, ‘I am the Chief Justice and I want to leave now’,” said Saguisag.
On the medical condition of Corona, he said government doctors should be allowed to examine and not private doctors, one of whom allegedly is a relative of the Chief Justice.
“He (Corona) should be cited for contempt and if his condition gets better, should be imprisoned,” said Saguisag. Totel V. de Jesus, INQUIRER.net
