Storm surge warning in 9 Luzon provinces

MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau on Wednesday warned of a possible storm surge in parts of Luzon in the next 48 hours due to Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami).

Below is the list of areas that may experience storm surge based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) 8 p.m. advisory issued on Wednesday:

Residents in these areas are advised to stay away from the coast or beach and cancel all marine activities. 

Pagasa reported that Kristine was last spotted some 150 kilometers east of Echague, Isabela, moving northwest at 15 kilometers per hour (kph), packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center with gusts of up to 115 kph.
