LTFRB issues special bus, UV permits for ‘Undas’ travel surge
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued more than 1,000 special permits for buses and utility vehicles (UVs) in anticipation of a surge of passengers on All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day or “undas.”
“First of all, as early as October 15, we approved a special permit for buses to travel on routes that are not theirs,” LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III said at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon briefing on Wednesday.
“As of now, we have already given special permits to 1,200 buses including UVs that want to travel during this Undas season,” he added.
The LTFRB has also deployed personnel at bus terminals who will check the roadworthiness of vehicles and if they have a special permit or a franchise.
“We have road inspectors who check on the road, making sure that your driver has not been drinking and your conductor is the same. We give an on-the-spot alcoholic sobriety test,” he also said.
