MANILA, Philippines – Amid the effects of Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami), the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) opened its airports’ facilities to Filipinos affected by the storm.
On Wednesday, Caap said it has already provided shelter to 43 individuals, including four families and students from the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture in Naga Airport.

It also established a free mobile phone charging station at the Naga Airport gate for those in need of power for communications.
Meanwhile, Caap said all passengers who opted to stay and wait for the storm’s effects to weaken were also accommodated at Tacloban Airport.

“Caap remains vigilant in ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of passengers while coordinating closely with other agencies to provide critical services and assistance during this emergency,” Caap said.
“Caap personnel are on hand to manage airport operations and support communities affected by Tropical Storm Kristine,” it added.

Kristine was last spotted by the state weather bureau 200 kilometers (kms) east of Casiguran, Aurora, carrying maximum sustained winds of 85 km per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 105 kph.
Signal No. 2 is currently raised over 31 areas, including Camarines Sur; while Signal No. 1 is raised over 26 areas, including Leyte.
Kristine is forecast to make landfall in Isabela by Wednesday night.
