MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday ordered the full use of Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (Edca) sites for relief operations in response to Tropical Storm Kristine’s onslaught.
In a situation briefing, Marcos said the Edca sites must be used by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to assist those affected by the storm
AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. said the United States is also “ready to send their aircrafts” to help in relief operations.
Kristine maintained its strength as it moved west-northwestward over Quezon province. At least 26 areas were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2.
In its 8 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Kristine was last located 310 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora, or 310 km east northeast of Infanta, Quezon.
