The Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasiya (Bakud) party of the Durano clan is scheduled to meet with One Cebu party.

Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale, who is affiliated with Bakud, said yesterday that there’s no exact date for the meeting but the group’s chairman, Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III coordinated with One Cebu officials for this purpose.

Durano, who’s on a trip abroad, is expected to arrive today.

Magpale has been asked to be Rep. Pablo John Garcia’s running mate for One Cebu party in the next elections. Garcia will run as governor. If Magpale accepts the offer, she will run for the vice governor under the party.

Former Cebu City councilor Hilario Davide III of the Liberal Party, however, is also asking Magpale to be his running mate. Davide announced he would vie for the governor’s post and he wanted Magpale to be his vice governor.

Magpale, however, hadn’t decided yet on which party she would run. She earlier said that it would be up to her party Bakud to decide.

Magpale also said that she would spend the remaining time as vice governor to focus on children, women and tourism.

She cited pushing for more birthing centers in far-flung areas in Tuburan town.

Magpale said that barangay Gimama-a has no birthing center, only a health center for its residents of 5,000.

She told Cebu Daily News that she’s been going to Tuburan because of the request of the barangay captains.

Magpale said it was former Vice Gov. Greg Sanchez who gives financial assistance to Tuburan and she also wanted to help the town being Sanchez’s successor. /Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
