MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives’ quadcommittee cited Police Major Kenneth Albotra for contempt and ordered his detention within the chamber’s premises for supposedly lying before lawmakers.

Abang Lingkod Party-list Rep. Stephen Paduano made the motion to cite Albotra for contempt on Tuesday, citing the latter’s violation of Sec. 11 paragraph C of House rules of procedure governing inquiry in aid of legislation.

“I move to detain Capt. Albotra in the premisws of the House until the committee report will be adopted in the plenary,” said Paduano.

No one objected to Paduano’s motion. It was immediately then approved by Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers who serves as the overall chair of the committee.
