MANILA, Philippines — Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 on Tuesday granted the Senate panel on women’s request for detained televangelist Apollo Quiboloy’s attendance at the chamber’s public hearing on Wednesday, October 23.
“The letter-request to allow the appearance of the accused before the public hearing of the Senate committee on women, children, family relations and gender equality on October 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. is hereby granted,” the court order read.
“The Jail Warden of the Pasig City Jail, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Nagpayong, Brgy. Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City, and the Chief of PNP Custodial Center, Camp Crame, Quezon City are hereby directed to bring and escort [the] accused,” it added.
The court also allowed Quiboloy’s alleged cohorts Jackielyn Wong Roy, Cresente Chavez Canada alias Enteng, Ingrid Chavez Canada, Paulene Chavez Canada, and Sylvia Calija Cemanes to attend the hearing.
It also directed the warden of Pasig City jail to implement the utmost security measures to ensure the safety of all the accused.
Quiboloy was arrested last September 8. He is facing human trafficking, child abuse, rape, and other cases.

To avoid a miscarriage of justice, the Supreme Court granted the Department of Justice’s request to transfer Quiboloy’s sexual abuse case from a court in Davao to Quezon City.
