’WINSTON GARCIA’ NABBED
A 21-YEAR-OLD dance choreographer was arrested for alleged child abuse in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Winston Garcia (not the brother of Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia) was arrested in his residence in sitio Aroma last Tuesday night.
A warrant was issued by Judge Danilo Armisola of the Regional Trial Court Branch 58 in San Carlos City for the abuse.
The alleged crime happened in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, said Insp. Ramil Morpos.
Garcia, who denied any wrongdoing, told police that the case stemmed from a complaint of a mother of one his students while he was still the choreographer of a school in San Carlos City last year.
The student accused Garcia of hitting him.
Garcia denied this, saying he only reprimanded the student for a minor offense.
Garcia said he thought the issue was already settled when he was made to appear at the principal’s office.
Garcia said he didn’t know that an arrest warrant was issued against him and that bail was set at P80,000 for his temporary release. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
