Kristine gets nearer; Metro Manila, 42 other areas under Signal No. 1

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) is getting closer to the Philippine landmass, leading the state weather agency to include Metro Manila and 42 other areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 11 a.m. cyclone bulletin that Kristine’s latest location was 335 kilometers (km) east of Virac, Catanduanes. It was at 390 km east of Virac early Tuesday morning.

Kristine still packed maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 80 kph while moving in the same westward direction and speed at 15 kph.
