LEGAZPI CITY — Work in government and private institutions in Camarines Norte province was suspended on Tuesday, Oct. 22, as more heavy rainfall caused by Tropical Storm Kristine was expected.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) forecast shows that by 2 p.m. Tuesday, Kristine would be 390 kilometers east of Daet, the capital town of Camarines Norte.
Camarines Norte Gov. Ricarte Padilla urged the public, in his work suspension advisory, to monitor weather conditions within their areas as the heavy rainfall may cause flooding, river swelling, and landslides.
As of 5 a.m., Tropical Wind Cyclone Signal no. 1 was still raised over Camarines Norte and the rest of the Bicol Region.
Kristine is forecast to remain as a Tropical Storm in the next 24 hours. It may reach Severe Tropical Storm category on Wednesday, Oct. 23, and may make landfall over Isabela,” according to Pagasa.
Pagasa also forecast that Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, and Catanduanes will experience intense to torrential rains, or more than 200 millimeters of rain.
Meanwhile, Masbate will experience heavy to intense rains, or 100 to 200 millimeters of rain.
