Park n’ Go stops Utassco

PARK n’ Go Bakeshop stopped the five-game win streak of league-leader Utassco with a close, 107-102 win last Tuesday night in the Power Forty President’s Cup-2012 summer basketball tournament at the Emilio Jaca Memorial gym.

After the opening quarter was tied at 20-all, Park n’ Go pulled away with a blistering 36-20 rally in the second to erect a commanding 16-point lead at the half, 56-40. It maintained its double-digit edge at the end of 3rd, 80-68.

Utassco outscored Park n’ Go in the fourth period, 34-27 but fell short of snatching the win.

Adot Tabar and Erik Abatayo led Park n’ Go with 24 points apiece while Michael Veloso and Cards Vernaiz paced Utassco with 34 and 18 points, respectively.

In the other game, Alfa Electrical barged into the win column after shocking Water Market, 94-92. Alfa improved to 1-5 while Water Market fell to 4-2.

Alfa tied the count at 92-all on Allan Dela Rama’s short jumper before Dela Rama pegged the final count with another jumper.

Dela Rama and Mac-Mac Navares led Alfa Electrical with 25 and 20 points, respectively, while Michael Arias paced Water Market with a night-high 34 points.
