LUCENA CITY — A motorcycle rider died and another one was injured after a truck hit their vehicle while traveling along the Maharlika Highway in Sariaya town in Quezon province on Saturday evening, October 19.
The Quezon police said in a report that motorcyclist “Jhon”, 20, and her back-rider “Beverly”, 14, were about to turn left toward the roadside convenience store in Barangay (village) Concepcion Palasan around 7:15 p.m. when an oncoming Isuzu Elf closed van driven by “Rommel” hit them from behind.

Due to the strong impact of the collision, the two riders suffered severe injuries and Jhon died while being taken to a hospital in the locality.
The report did not state whether or not the riders were wearing crash helmets, which is required by the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
Both parties were working out an amicable settlement, the police said.
