Join gov’t, DOH urges new docs

MANILA, Philippines — Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa on Saturday welcomed the 3,485 new doctors who passed the October physician licensure examinations.

In a statement on the Facebook page of the Department of Health (DOH), Herbosa called on the future doctors to join the agency, saying, “Let us do public health, health systems strengthening, health policy, health financing. Or choose to be a DOH Doctor to the Barrios.”

Herbosa said DOH hospitals also have residency and specialization programs for the new doctors. He said they could also consider the field of family and community medicine and serve in the Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Service Centers, mobile primary care clinics and the PuroKalusugan program.

“Help us build a health system Filipinos truly deserve. Serve the people,” he said.
