MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte on Friday said the country is currently on the “road to hell” as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. does not know how to do his job as Chief Executive.
Duterte made this pronouncement after claiming that she has been blamed several times for the current situation of the country because she chose not to run for president in the 2022 elections.
“Hindi ko kasalanan na (It’s not my fault that) we are on this road to hell,” said Duterte in a tell-all press conference with reporters.
“Hindi marunong maging presidente ang nakaupo, kasalanan ko ba ‘yon? Hindi,” she added.
(The one sitting in office doesn’t know how to be president, is that my fault? No.)

Duterte even cited Marcos’ supposed ineffectiveness as a leader as one of the reasons why she left her post in his Cabinet.
“Kaya nga umalis ako, ‘di ba? Sa administration?” Duterte said.
(That’s why I left the administration, right?)

“‘Di ko na gusto. Kung presidente niyo siya, okay lang. Ako, hanggang vice president lang ako, hanggang number two lang itong bansa na ito,” she added.
(I don’t want it anymore. If he’s your president, that’s fine. Me, I’ll just be vice president; I’ll only be number two in this country.)
