Armed men abduct American in Zamboanga del Norte

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — An American national was abducted by armed men on Thursday evening at Sitio Tungawan, Barangay Poblacion in Sibuco town, Zamboanga del Norte.

An initial police report said a certain AbdulMali Hamsiran Jala reported to the local police that four men wearing black pants and shirts, carrying M16 rifles and identifying themselves as police personnel, forcibly took Elliot Onil Eastman.

Eastman is said to be from Vermont, USA, and married to a Filipina from Sibuco town.

Jala said the victim struggled and managed to run from the abductors, but was shot in the leg.

Eastman was immediately boarded on a white boat heading towards the high seas, Jala relayed.

The local police have conducted a pursuit operation.
