MMDA prepares for heavier traffic during holidays

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday announced traffic management measures in preparation for the holiday season.

MMDA Chair Romando Artes said these included temporarily suspending road right-of-way excavation activities in Metro Manila effective midnight of Nov. 18 up to midnight of Dec. 25.

Shopping malls will also start operating at 11 a.m. instead of 10 a.m. on the same dates.

Artes said he would also push for extending the operating hours of the Edsa Bus Carousel, Light Rail Transit, and Metro Rail Transit to accommodate more commuters. —Jerome Aning
