Villar slam viral video critics: 'They have nothing to do, they discredit'

Sen. Cynthia Villar presides over the Committee on Agriculture, Food and Agrarian Reform for the continuation of the hearing on the proposed amendments to Republic Act 11203 or the Rice Tariffication Law, particularly extending the life of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund on July 4, 2024 (Bibo Nueva España/Senate PRIB)

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Cynthia Villar on Wednesday slammed her critics, saying some people opt to cause trouble because they have no accomplishment.

She was referring to people who criticized her over a viral video where she was seen reprimanding a security guard in BF Resort Village.

“Walang magawa ‘yon. Kasi gustong lumaban, wala namang performance, kaya ang ginagawa manira,” Villar said in an ambush interview after the Department of Agrarian Reform’s 2025 budget hearing.

(They have nothing to do. They want to fight, but there’s no performance to show, so what they do instead is to discredit.)

According to the senator, the incident occurred because they were being prevented by the security guard from entering and exiting the subdivision.

“Kasi ‘yung mga security guard namin, ayaw kami papasukin at palabasin sa aming subdivision. Saan kami uuwi? Kaya pinapagalitan ko. That’s against the law,” Villar explained.

(Because our security guards wouldn’t let us enter or exit our subdivision. Where are we supposed to go home? That’s why I scolded them. That’s against the law.)

In 2023, another video of Villar berating security guards in BF Resort Village also went viral. She was seen instructing the guards to remove metal barriers along one of the village streets.

She explained that the gate was blocking the road leading to a composting facility she had built years ago.
