MANILA, Philippines — The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Monday renewed its commitment to “stand against disinformation” by providing “accurate” and “relevant” information to the public.

The PCO made the pronouncement as it celebrated its 82nd anniversary of being in service.

“Our commitment remains steadfast: to provide accurate, timely, and relevant information that empowers the Filipino citizen,” the PCO’s social media read.

“Together, let’s foster an informed community that stands against disinformation and strives for a brighter future for the Filipino people!” it added.

Previously, recently appointed PCO Secretary Cesar Chavez said combating misinformation and disinformation is one of his main priorities.

He also stressed that it is not only the government’s duty to avoid spreading misinformation, and called on the public to refrain from peddling false information.
