MANILA, Philippines — Winds coming from the northeast and localized thunderstorms are expected to bring cloudy skies with rain to many parts of the country on Thursday, October 10.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the northeasterly wind flow will continue to cause slightly cooler temperatures in northern Luzon, along with occasional light to heavy rainfall.

“Ngayong araw po asahan ang maulang panahon dito sa may northern Luzon lalo na sa Batanes, Apayao, at Cagayan dahil pa rin yan sa northeasterly wind flow. Meron tayong mahina hanggang sa kung minsan malalakas na ulan kaya mag-ingat po sa banta ng baha at pagguho ng lupa,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said.

(Today, expect rainy weather in northern Luzon, especially in Batanes, Apayao, and Cagayan, due to the northeasterly wind flow. There will be light to sometimes heavy rain, so be cautious of possible flooding and landslides.)

Estereja added that the remaining parts of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Region, and Ilocos Region, may also experience rains due to the northeasterly wind flow.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and the rest of the country, on the other hand, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms on Thursday. Estareja also said thunderstorms are possible over most of Luzon from Thursday afternoon to evening.

“Wala tayong nakikitang bagong weather disturbance, mapa low pressure area man o bagyo na papasok ng ating Philippine area of responsibility hanggang sa matapos ang weekend,” Estareja noted.

(We don’t see any new weather disturbances, whether it’s a low pressure area or a typhoon entering our Philippine area of responsibility until the end of the weekend.)

As for the country’s seaboards, Pagasa did not raise any gale warning over any coasts nationwide for October 10.
