MANILA, Philippines – Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are forecast in parts of Northern Luzon due to a low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmopspheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa)  reported on Tuesday.

The LPA was last spotted some 350 kilometers (km) west of Abucay, Bataan.

“Due to this low-pressure area, we can expect rainy weather in La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan. Residents in the said areas are advised  to be cautious, especially those who have been experiencing rain in recent days,” Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres said in Filipino.

“This low-pressure area, however, has a slim chance of developing into a typhoon in the next 24 hours.)

Meanwhile, a northeasterly surface wind flow is affecting extreme Northern Luzon, where  clooudy skies and scattered rain showers are expected.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are also expected in Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms, the state weather bureau added.

Pagasa is also monitoring a tropical depression outside PAR, which remains unlikely to enter the country’s borders.

The tropical depression was last spotted some 2,605 km east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.

No gale warning was hoisted by Pagasa over any of the country’s seaboards.
