A viral wedding video with the couple’s genuine reactions captured the hearts of netizens for its unique, funny, and lighthearted charm.

Patrick Aring, 31, and Sarah Samonte-Aring, 30, have proven that true love is a delightful blend of fun and affection with the video highlighting the groom’s playful personality and the bride’s beauty.

It featured Patrick dancing while washing his head with shaving cream, looking like he had washed it with shampoo.

“During that time, I did that just to ease my nervousness because I wanted to make our wedding fun and memorable,” Patrick explained to INQUIRER.net.

They also mentioned that Sarah was completely unaware that Patrick had her face printed on the shorts he wore for the wedding video.

“That was the surprise. The concept of the video was also refreshing when we watched it the same day it was filmed. We were really happy because the filming of the video was worth it,” Sarah said.

The couple’s wedding video is not just for show; it serves as a heartfelt reflection of their love, which is built on mutual support and admiration.

“He’s not boring to be around. His funny personality and sense of humor made me love him more,” Sarah shared.

For Patrick, Sarah is his comfort zone — someone who brightens his mood and brings warmth even on the most tiring days.

How it all began

In 2012, Patrick and Sarah met twice during school events. Their mutual friend had introduced them to each other, but their initial exchanges were brief and friendly, yet to lead to a deeper connection.

During their third meeting, however, their chemistry blossomed and sparked a connection that would change their lives.

It was a fateful encounter at an after-party from a Christmas-themed school celebration when they decided to prepare meals for their friends. Working together allowed them to get to know each other better.

“That’s when we became close because I realized that he is actually really chill and fun to be around,” Sarah mentioned.

Meanwhile, Patrick recalled an amusing incident that occurred while they were cooking together, which brought them even closer.

“That’s when we really clicked… We were cooking Spam, and after having a few drinks, it flew and fell on the floor. Since it was just the two of us, we picked it up, and let our other friends eat it,” Patrick revealed.

From then on, Patrick and Sarah became more interested in each other, eventually going on dates and deepening their connection.

Building their relationship

Patrick and Sarah’s relationship persevered after college despite the challenges of balancing their busy work schedules and meeting the expectations of their strict families.

Even as adults, they weren’t allowed to have sleepovers or go out of town alone without their friends, but they accepted it and found ways to compromise to nurture their relationship.

“We made it a point to meet on Saturdays and keep Sundays for family time. So right up until we got married, that was our setup,” Patrick said.

“We made sacrifices. If you really want to see each other, the other one really has to sacrifice their time for the other,” he continued.

They noted that this was their setup from 2016 until 2024 before they tied the knot last August.

In their 11 years as boyfriend and girlfriend, Patrick emphasized that family should always come first before marriage. Sarah also supplemented the idea by stressing the importance of being friends with your partner.

“I think loving shouldn’t be like owning a person. You have to let them be, you have to let them grow, you have to give them that space to love their family first, to excel in school and their career because there will come a time that you will be their priority and when that time comes, it’ll be very rewarding,” Sarah explained.

As the couple embarks on their married life, they continue embracing the love and laughter that have defined their relationship from the beginning.

The couple mentioned that their first month as husband and wife has made them enjoy doing domestic things they didn’t find enjoyable to do before.

“When he sees me cleaning, he’ll also start cleaning. He’ll look for things to clean. We feel happy, fulfilled, and very productive,” Sarah shared.

“The chores are more enjoyable to do now that we’re married,” Patrick said. — Nathalie Enriquez, INQUIRER trainee
