DAET, CAMARINES NORTE — Former Camarines Norte Governor Edgardo “Egay” Tallado has filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) on Monday, Oct. 7, in a bid to return to his old position in the 2025 midterm local and national elections.
Tallado, who is running under the banner of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), filed his COC at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office at the provincial capitol in Daet town with his wife Camarines Norte 1st District Representative Josefina Baning Tallado of Lakas-CMD, who is also seeking reelection for her third and last term at next year’s polls.
Tallado served as provincial governor from 2010 to 2019 and was known for his infrastructure projects, particularly farm-to-market roads.

One of his most notable projects is the Cory Aquino Boulevard, which connects the towns of Mercedes, Daet, Talisay, Vinzons, Paracale, and Jose Panganiban. It is touted as the “longest boulevard in the Philippines.”
Tallado lost to Gov. Ricarte Padilla in the 2022 elections.
“I have a lot of unfinished programs and projects that will benefit everyone, especially in education, health, and agriculture,” Tallado, in an interview with Inquirer, said when asked for his reason in seeking to return to his former office.
