MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang confirmed the appointment of Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla as the new secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cesar Chavez told reporters in a Viber message on Tuesday that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. picked Remulla and that the governor is set to take his oath before the chief executive on Tuesday morning.
On Monday evening, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla told reporters that his brother will replace Benjamin Abalos Jr., who filed his certificate of candidacy for senator and automatically resigned as DILG chief.
