COTABATO CITY — City Mayor Mohammad Bruce Matabalao, a former radioman-turned-politician, filed his certificate of candidacy on Saturday, seeking a second term in office.
Matabalao was accompanied by his running mate, Johair Madag, and their complete slate for city councilors, who staged a motorcade around the city.
Matabalao is the official candidate of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), the political party organized by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
The Matabalao-Madag tandem is being challenged by the team-up of Vice Mayor Johari Butch Abu and Bimbo Ayunan-Pasawiran of Serbisyong Inklusibo-Alyansang Progresibo (SIAP Party), and that of former Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi and Councilor Japal Guiani III of the Nationalist Peoples Coalition.
