Fair weather in Metro Manila, many parts of PH on Saturday, Oct. 5

MANILA, Philippines — Fair weather is expected in many parts of the country on Saturday, but the southern parts will experience overcast skies with rain showers due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), according to the state weather bureau.

Daniel Villamil, a weather specialist from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), said the ITCZ or the convergence of winds in the northern and southern hemispheres would bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to the Bicol Region, Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga Peninsula.

“Based on our satellite images, there are thick cloud bands affecting the southern portion of the country due to ITCZ,” Villamil said in a public weather forecast.

On the other hand, Villamil said mild weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are seen for the rest of the country.

“For Metro Manila and the rest of the country, expect fair weather today with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms,” Villamil said.

After Julian’s deceleration, Pagasa is no longer monitoring any weather disturbance inside and outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
