MANILA, Philippines — Classes in all public daycare centers and elementary and high school levels will be suspended in Manila on Friday, October 4, in celebration of National and World Teachers’ Day.

Classes in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and the University of the Philippines Manila are also suspended, based on an advisory released by the Manila Public Information Office (PIO).

Mayor Honey Lacuna declared the suspension through Executive Order (EO) No. 33, which she signed on Thursday, October 3.

The EO recognizes the efforts of public school teachers in the city and gives them a wellness day, the Manila PIO said.

“Teachers are requested to provide activity sheets or modules for the intended lesson on that day,” it added.

Lacuna encouraged private schools, colleges, and universities in Manila to give the same honor to their faculty.
