CEBU CITY – Heavy rainfall after Tuesday midnight has triggered a landslide and rendered the Manipis Road leading to Toledo City impassable, an official reported on Wednesday.

Jonathan Tumulak, head of the City of Talisay Traffic Operations and Development Authority, advised motorists from Cebu City passing by the Toledo Wharf Road, commonly referred to as the Manipis Road, to take alternative routes for their safety.

He noted that a landslide also occurred in the area about three months ago.

Authorities reported no casualties or injuries during the landslide as the area is uninhabited.

“We need to rush for the clearing operation so as not to prolong the agony of the motorists who are constantly using the Manipis Road in going to and from Toledo,” he added.

The road continues to be impassable as of 3 p.m. Wednesday, even to four-wheel vehicles.
