MANILA, Philippines–Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile called all senators to a caucus on Wednesday amid reports that Chief Justice Renato Corona will no longer be able to attend and continue his testimony before the Senate acting as an impeachment court.

“The Senate President has called for a caucus at 12 noon of all senators,” Senate Majority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III told reporters.

Sotto said Enrile did not say what the agenda of the caucus would be, but Senator Edgardo Angara believed that the meeting was called to discuss the recent developments, specially Corona’s health condition.

“Hindo ko alam (I don’t know). He (Enrile) just told me to call all the senators in a caucus,” Sotto said.

Enrile gave Corona until Wednesday to return to the Senate or else the Senate, Enrile said, would render its verdict on the case based on the evidence on record.
