12 areas in Northern Luzon suspend classes due to Typhoon Julian

No classes in Malabon, parts of Tanza, Cavite Aug 27

MANILA, Philippines — More local government units (LGUs) have suspended their face-to-face classes on Monday, September 30 in light of the bad weather brought by Typhoon Julian.

These LGUs are as follows:

Earlier, the following local governments have also announced the suspension of their classes:

Batanes

Baguio City

Aparri in Cagayan

Benguet

San Fabian in Pangasinan

Ilocos Sur (elementary and secondary levels)

In its 8 a.m. weather bulletin on Monday, the state weather bureau said Julian is nearing the super typhoon category.

The center of its eye was last seen over the coastal waters of Balintang Island in Calayan, Cagayan.

It has maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 215 kph, and it is moving west-northwestward at 10 kph.
