MANILA, Philippines — Former Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and Senate President Chiz Escudero are set to meet one-on-one during the chamber’s break to discuss how fellowship among senators may be improved.

“Nag usap kami kahapon na mag-uusap kami. So, he said na when we get back – no, during the break he wants to meet me with me raw. Magwa-one on one kami,” Zubiri told reporters in a Kapihan sa Senado forum on Thursday.

(We agreed yesterday that we would talk. So he said that when we get back – no, during the break he wants to meet me. We will meet one on one.)

Pressed to discuss what the meeting would be about, Zubiri said to improve relationships among the lawmakers within the chamber.

“These issues like more consultations [and] how we can improve the camaraderie between senators, ‘yan ang pinag uusapan namin,” said Zubiri.

(These issues include more consultations and improving the camaraderie between senators. These are the things that we will talk about.)

The meeting came after Zubiri and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano’s heated argument at the Senate’s plenary session.

The two argued about adopting a resolution to include 10 Embo barangays in the two legislative districts of Taguig and Pateros.

It likewise confirms the increase in councilors in each area for fair and equitable representation.

Zubiri earlier said the situation could’ve been avoided if there had been more consultations.
