The Southern Partners and Fair Trade Center and the Sto. Niño Social Foundation will present a fair trade concert for a cause to culminate the month-long celebration of World Fair Trade Day 2012.
The concert themed “In fairness, fair ko… dare to be fair!” will feature Jim Paredes of Apo Hiking Society and the Ambassador of Fair Trade, together with local artists Cattski, Budoy, The Wonggoys and Fr. Jonas Mejares, OSA.
It will be held on May 26 at 7 p.m. at the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño Pilgrim Center.
The event not only aims to promote awareness on fair trade and social enterprise bill, but also serves as a fund-raiser.
Proceeds of the concert will be used for the climate resiliency program for farmers, livelihood for women and the campaign for land at the fair trade processing plant.
The concert will also kick off the massive signature campaign in support of social enterprise bill.
Concert tickets are available at The Fair Trade Shop, The Basilica del Sto. Niño and 2Go outlets in Cebu.
The World Fair Trade Day is an initiative of the World Fair Trade Organization that took place on May 12.
It is a worldwide festival of events celebrating fair trade as a contribution to the fight against poverty, climate change and economic crisis.
This year, the Southern Partners and Fair Trade Center has launched three major activities for the World Fair Trade Day celebration — the social enterprise bill forum last April 21, fair trade bazaar last May 12 and the fair trade concert for a cause on May 26.
