4.6 quake hits Occidental Mindoro, felt in Tagaytay, Batangas
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck off the shores of Occidental Mindoro on Wednesday evening, with its impact felt in parts of Batangas and Cavite, according to state meteorologists.
The tectonic earthquake, which struck 14 kilometers northeast of Looc town at 7:37 p.m. with a depth of 43 kilometers, was reported by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Intensity III was felt in Batangas City, while Intensity II was experienced in Tagaytay City in Cavite and Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro.
Also, instrumental intensities of III and II were logged in Tagaytay and Puerto Galera, respectively.
There were reports of earthquakes being felt in Metro Manila, particularly in the cities of Caloocan and Parañaque, but Phivolcs said their respective City Disaster Risk Reduction Management offices have no reports as of this posting.
Meanwhile, the tremor is unlikely to cause damage, and aftershocks are also not expected.
