MANILA, Philippines — A show cause order will be issued against the owner or operator of a barangay Patient Transport Vehicle (PTV) that illegally used the Edsa busway and almost hit Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) operatives while evading.

On Tuesday afternoon, a PTV belonging to Barangay Calzada Tipas in Taguig City was caught operating without front or rear license plates in the Edsa busway.

“SAICT enforcers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver disregarded their instructions and sped away,” the committee said in a Facebook post.

Enforcers pursued the vehicle by boarding a bus but were unable to catch up.

SAICT said the Land Transportation Office will issue a show cause order against the registered owner of the vehicle and investigation is now ongoing.

According to the Department of Health, a PTV is defined as any vehicle other than a licensed ambulance, designed to transport patients whose conditions are non-life-threatening.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority previously said that only buses and responding emergency vehicles can use the Edsa busway.
