Comelec: 41 new party-lists accredited, 142 rejected in 2025 elections
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has accredited about 41 new party-list organizations and rejected 142 organizations applying as party-list groups for the upcoming elections in 2025, according to its chairman George Garcia.
In an ambush interview on Monday, Garcia said the number of accredited party-lists slightly decreased compared to the previous elections as part of the commission’s efforts to filter these organizations.

“All in all, ang mga partylist natin na naaccredit na more or less ay bago ay mga 41 po ‘yan lahat lahat; ito po ay mas baba sa huling election nung 2022 na nasa 70 ang na-accredit na bagong partylist,” the Comelec official disclosed.
(All in all, we accredited more or less 41 new party-lists. This is lower than the number of groups accredited last 2022 elections, which was 70.)
“Hindi naman po dahil sa gusto lang namin mag-reduce, magpakonti ng party-list subalit gusto lang natin talaga ‘yung mga party-list talaga ay nag re-represent sa marginalized and underrepresented,” he added.

Meanwhile, the number of rejected organizations groups is now at 142, which is expected to increase in the coming days, Garcia said.
Earlier, Garcia revealed that approximately 200 party-lists have registered to Comelec for the 2025 midterm polls.
He likewise announced a new election guideline where party-lists will be required to submit 10 nominees to represent them — a new development in the Republic Act 7941 or the Party-list System Act.
This law initially mandated a registered party to submit not less than five names that will serve as representatives in Congress if they secure the required number of votes.
