Bong Revilla is Lakas-CMD’s first bet in 2025 Senate race

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. is Lakas-CMD’s first candidate for the 2025 Senate race, the political party announced on Friday.

During the national convention of Lakas-CMD in Malacañang presided over by Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, the party adopted Resolution No. 3 which nominated Revilla as the group’s candidate.

Revilla is chairperson of Lakas-CMD.

During the program, key members of the party were present, like Romualdez, Deputy Antonio Albano, and Revilla’s wife Cavite 2nd District Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla.

Romualdez in his speech said that the 2025 elections are not just about fielding candidates, but also a means to shape the country’s future.

“In 2025, we are not just fielding candidates — we are shaping the future. Lakas-CMD is proud to join the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas. This multiparty administration alliance will bring forth a formidable 12-man senatorial slate, as well as candidates for provincial, congressional, and city and municipal positions,” Romualdez said.

“Together, we will represent a broad and inclusive movement that reflects the aspirations of every Filipino across our archipelago,” he added.

Revilla meanwhile thanked Romualdez for his efforts, noting that the party has reached a level of solidarity never seen before.

“With beaming pride and gratitude, I humbly accept this nomination to be its candidate for senator in the upcoming 2025 midterm elections,” Revilla said in his speech. “To all of you, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you once again for this tremendous honor and the trust you have bestowed on me.”

“Through Speaker Martin, we have achieved a level of solidarity that our party has never reached before. Through him, our belief on the goal of our party strengthens,” he said. “We credit him for again making Lakas the ruling party. And because of this, it is with full confidence that I say to all of you — we are definitely in good hands. Maraming salamat, Speaker.”
