Abalos, PNP chief want NTF-Elcac retained
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine National Police on Thursday expressed support for the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-Elcac) amid calls for its abolition.
“I can attest that this program is very effective and very good,” said Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. during the budget briefing of the DILG and its attached agencies on Thursday.
“For me, this should not only be continued but also strengthened,” he added.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil shared Abalos’ sentiments, saying NTF-Elcac should be retained.
“We’ve helped many people here. And, of course, it’s also information dissemination and education of our people,” he said.
