MANILA, Philippines — More local government units (LGUs) have suspended classes on Tuesday, September 17, due to inclement weather triggered by Tropical Depression Gener.
Below is a list of LGUs that have so far suspended in-person classes according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
- Valenzuela City – all levels; online classes for college level will continue
- Malabon City – Kinder to Grade 12 in public and private schools
- Navotas City – Kindergarten to Grade 12 including ALS
- Quezon City – Day Care to Senior High School in public and private schools
- Manila City – Kinder to Grade 12 in public and private schools
- Marikina City – all levels in public and private schools
- Caloocan City – all levels in public and private schools
- Mandaluyong City – preschool to Grade 12 including ALS in public and private schools
- San Juan City – all levels in public and private schools
Meanwhile, the following LGUs have earlier announced suspension of classes their classes on September 17:
- Infanta, Quezon (Preschool to Senior High School)
- Candelaria, Zambales (Preschool to Senior High School)
- San Marcelino, Zambales (Work and classes at all levels)
- San Felipe, Zambales (Preschool to Senior High School)
- Botolan, Zambales (Preschool to Senior High School)
- Pangasinan (All levels)
- Concepcion, Tarlac (Elementary to High School)
Tropical Depression Gener was tracked early Tuesday morning in the vicinity of Alicia, Isabela.
It has a maximum sustained wind speed of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, gustiness of up to 70 kph, and it is moving westd at 30 kph.
The northern part of Metro Manila, made up of Quezon City, Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, Malabon City, Navotas City, Marikina City, city of Manila, San Juan City, and Mandaluyong City – is under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) number one.

The state weather bureau, in its 5 a.m. forecast on Tuesday, said Gener may exit the Philippine area of responsibility between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
