MANILA, Philippines — Class suspensions were imposed in several areas nationwide for Monday (September 16) due to inclement weather brought by the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, and the low-pressure area (LPA).
Below is the list of areas that suspended classes at all levels in both public and private:
Luzon
- Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro
- Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro
- Rizal, Occidental Mindoro
- San Jose, Occidental Mindoro
- Coron, Palawan
Visayas
- Lezo, Aklan
- Kalibo, Aklan
- Libertad, Antique
- Patnongon, Antique
- Bacolod City, Negros Occidental
- Binalbagan, Negros Occidental
- Himamaylan, Negros Occidental
- Isabela, Negros Occidental
- La Carlota, Negros Occidental
Earlier, the state weather bureau said that it is monitoring two low-pressure areas (LPA) inside and outside of the Philippine area of Responsibility (PAR), which have a chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
It added that the LPA inside PAR was last spotted 460 kilometers (km) east of Casuguran in Aurora, while the one outside is far from the country’s landmass at 2,160 km east of Eastern Visayas.
