LUCENA CITY — Two motorcycle riders died in separate accidents in this city and in San Antonio towns in Quezon province on Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 14 and 15), police said.

Quezon police reported that “Arvin,” 31, was driving his motorcycle around 12:38 a.m. Sunday when he overshot the curved section of the national highway in Barangay (village) Market View in Lucena City.

The wayward vehicle consequently crashed into a display water tank and steel mixer and subsequently hit the concrete wall of the hardware store on the side of the road.

The rider, who was not wearing a crash helmet, died on the spot.

In San Antonio town, police reported that motorcyclist “Erick” accidentally crashed into a tree on the side of the road in Barangay Briones around 2 a.m. on Saturday.

He was taken to a hospital but died along the way.

The report did not state whether or not Erick was wearing a crash helmet, which is required by the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
