MANILA, Philippines — Satisfaction with the overall performance of the national administration increased in the second quarter of 2024, according to a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey released on Friday.
The survey, conducted from June 23 to July 1, found that 62 percent of adult Filipinos said they were satisfied with the national administration, while 22 percent were dissatisfied and 15 percent neither satisfied nor dissatisfied. This resulted in a net satisfaction rating of +40, which SWS classified as “good.”
Compared to the March 2024 survey, the net satisfaction rating increased by 11 points from the “moderate” +29. However, it remains lower than the “excellent” +52 recorded in December 2023.

The survey question was: “On the overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the present national administration?” and it separated questions on specific performance subjects.
Out of 15 specific performance subjects, the net satisfaction ratings of the national administration were “very good” on three subjects, “good” on five, “moderate” on three, “neutral” on two and “poor” on two more subjects.
Areas of assessment
Filipinos rated the national administration as “very good” at helping victims of disaster (+64), improving the quality of children’s education (+62) and helping the poor (+51).
The national administration was rated “good” on implementing housing programs for the poor (+47), developing science and technology (+46), creating policies that will generate job opportunities (+45), ensuring an efficient public transport system (+38) and ensuring food security (+35).
It was rated as “moderate” at preparing for problems caused by climate change (+29), defending the country’s sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea (+22) and ensuring no family will ever be hungry (+18).
However, survey respondents were “neutral” on fighting ordinary crimes (-2) and ensuring oil companies do not take advantage of oil prices (-3).
The administration was found “poor” on graft and corruption in government (-10) and fighting inflation (-16).
The survey showed that net satisfaction was highest in Metro Manila (+52), followed by Luzon outside Metro Manila (+48), Visayas (+32) and Mindanao (+25).
The survey showed an improvement in net satisfaction rose among women at +43 (up by 16 points from +27), while it remained “good” among men at +38 (up by 7 points from +31).
The survey used in-person interviews of 1,500 adult Filipinos nationwide. It had a margin of error of plus-or-minus 2.5 percent for national percentages. —Inquirer Research
