MANILA, Philippines — New voter applications have reached over 6 million just days before the voter registration deadline ends, the Commissions on Elections (Comelec) said on Thursday.
In data released to the media on Thursday, Comelec processed 6,131,834 new voter applications as of September 11, 2024. Female voters still constitute the larger number with 3,153,433 applications while 2,978,401 applications come from male new voters.
Region IV-A Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) logged the highest number of new voters among all regions with 1,020,212 applications. The National Capital Region came second with 794,855 new voters, followed by Region III with 691,627.

Meanwhile, the poll body reported that 5,376,630 voters were deactivated as of September 12, 2024. Such deactivation stems from imprisonment, commitment of any crime, declaration of incompetence, failure to vote in two consecutive elections, loss of Filipino citizenship, court order exclusion, and failure to validate.
Comelec also recorded a total of 714,152 voters tagged as deleted or tagged. Such a decision may be due to registration cancellation due to death, transfer to another city or municipality, double registration, double entries, or application for overseas absentee voting.
Further, the voter registration ends on September 30, 2024 while the filing of certificate candidacy (COC) for the 2025 national and local elections will commence on October 1-8, 2024.
However, the COC filing for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao parliamentary elections was moved to November 4-9, 2024 after the Supreme Court ruled that the Sulu province is not part of the region.
Eligible voters can register at the office of the election officer or satellite registration office in their area from Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
