Pasig ranks 9th in 2024 highly-urbanized cities rankings – DTI

MANILA, Philippines — Pasig City is the 9th highly-urbanized city under the 2024 Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index (CMCI) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

As shown in the DTI website, the city led by Mayor Vico Sotto, placed 9th among 33 cities and municipalities with a score of 43.74 percent. This figure is lower than last year’s 44.59 percent when it also placed 9th in overall ranking.

The CMCI is measured based on the sum of the scores of cities and municipalities on 5 aspects namely: economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, resiliency, and innovation.

Pasig City ranked 8th in economic dynamism, or the economic activity of an LGU, with a score of 5.87 percent. It placed 10th in the category of government efficiency, referring to the quality and reliability of government services and support, garnering a score of 11.25 percent.

Meanwhile, it was in the 12th spot for infrastructure with a score of 6.25 percent.

The city got a score of 12.23 for the resilience factor, placing in the 12th spot while it ranked 16th in innovation with a score of 8.13 percent.

Meanwhile, it landed in the 8th spot for the 2024 most improved rankings for highly-urbanized cities as it retained its designation from last year.

Pasig City consecutively ranked 6th from 2019 to 2020 while it saw a significant drop to its ranking in 2021 for placing in the 11th spot.

Quezon City topped the highly-urbanized cities rankings while Taguig City is the most improved high-urbanized city, jumping from the 19th place in 2023 to the 10th place in 2024.
