MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday led the distribution of aid to farmers, fisherfolk, and other beneficiaries in Ilocos Norte.

Marcos distributed agricultural, fishery, and veterinary inputs worth P157.95 million to farmers, fisherfolk, and livestock raisers at the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Batac City.

He said the government recognizes the hardships of farmers and fisherfolk during the El Niño.

“Kami ay nagdala ng karagdagang tulong para sa mga magsasaka, sa mangingisda, at sa mga nag-aalaga ng hayop,” Marcos said.

(We have brought additional help for farmers, fishermen, and livestock raisers.)

“Layunin ng mga kagamitan at input na ito na mas maging mas mataas ang inyong produksyon at matulungan na makabangon tayo mula sa epekto ng nagdadaang kalamidad,” he added.

(The purpose of these equipment and inputs is to increase your production and help us recover from the impact of the recent calamity.)

Marcos also led the distribution of aid to 5,000 beneficiaries of the Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program, or AKAP, in Laoag City.

“Kaya’t nandito naman ang inyong pamahalaan. We are here to continue to support and bring whatever help we can, kung anuman ang maitulong namin para sa mga nangangailangan,” he said.

(That’s why your government is here. We are here to continue to support and bring whatever help we can for those in need.)

“Alam po namin na napakahirap ang inyong dinadaanan,” he added.

(We know that you are going through a very difficult time.)

The events coincided with the province’s celebration of the late president and dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr.’s 107th birthday.
