MANILA, Philippines — The Bataan-Cavite bridge, which will be the longest bridge in the country once completed, is projected to be finished by 2030, according to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) chief Manuel Bonoan.
Once done, Bonoan said the project will also be one of the longest bay bridge in the world as it spans 32 kilometers.
The bridge will be longer than the 8.9-kilometer Cebu-Cordova Bridge and the 2.1-kilometer San Juanico Bridge.

“I was just informed that the timeframe for completion of this major bridge project will be sometime 2030 or so,” Bonoan said in a Senate hearing tackling the DPWH project when asked about it by his predecessor and now senator Mark Villar.
The bridge project starts from Barangay Alas-asin in Mariveles, Bataan, crosses Manila Bay, and ends at Barangay Timalan in Naic, Cavite.
“Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge will be the second longest bay bridge in the world once constructed,” Bonoan noted.
This project is designed to reduce travel time between the provinces to 45 minutes from 5.5 hours.
DPWH said the detailed engineering design for the bridge has already been completed, but the construction has yet to begin.
The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank with co-financing from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
