MANILA, Philippines — Fugitive televangelist Apollo Quiboloy should stop using his Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) members as “human shields” while trying to evade arrest, House of Representatives Assistant Minority Leader and Gabriela Party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas said on Saturday.

“Quiboloy needs to stop playing God and face the charges against him. Itigil na niya ang drama niya at sumuko na lang siya,” Brosas said in a statement.

“Huwag niyang gamitin human shield ang mga taga-suporta niya. The victims of his alleged crimes deserve justice, and he must submits himself to the legal process,” she added.

On August 24, about 2,000 police officers raided the KJC compound in Davao City, acting on information they received that Quiboloy was staying inside.

KJC members and followers, however, came to the defense for their leader, protesting over the arrest warrant served against Quiboloy.

Quiboloy is facing charges of  human trafficking and sexual abuse.

“The exploitation of women and children is a grave violation of human rights that must be swiftly addressed,” Brosas said.

In the same statement, the party-list group said it “is opening its doors to the victims of Quiboloy and vows to further strengthen its campaign against violence towards women and children.”

On Thursday, the Court of Appeals-Cagayan de Oro City declared that the temporary protection order (TPO) issued by a Davao court in favor of the KJC was null and void.

The TPO was ordered following the raid conducted by 2,000 cops inside the KJC compound.
